Digestive Enzymes
Digestive enzymes are an important supplement if you are having any problems with your digestive tract. These problems might be constipation, bloating, gas, or other signs of indigestion. If you are not having a regular bowel movement or if you have any of these symptoms it means you are not digesting your food properly, not benefiting from the nutrients in your food, and not getting rid of toxic waste. If you are having gall bladder attacks or have had your gall bladder removed, this can cause digestive problems. If you are eating the wrong kind of food, this can cause digestive problems. If you have had chemotherapy, these strong chemicals seem to interfere with proper digestion long after therapy had stopped. All of these situations may be helped by a digestive enzyme and they come in all sizes and shapes. Apple pectin forms a soft, moist bulky fiber; Betaine HCL supplies additional stomach acid for digestion; Bromelain (from pineapple) is an effective enzyme for protein and many people take it because it helps with arthritis pain; Pancreatin is a super enzyme that digests protein, starch and fat. Note: If you’re eating the wrong food, I highly recommend the book “Eat Right 4 Your Type” as the best guide for what foods are digestible; it’s based on your blood type. There is also a good homeopathic remedy for some of these symptoms; this remedy deals with symptoms only, not your digestive process; It’s called Acid Relief.
