Hives

| January 24, 2012

HIVES:  Hives (uticaria) can result from an allergic reaction to food, chemicals, or bee stings.  Hives can be small or large red blotches on your skin or watery, red blisters and the reaction can be both outside on your skin and inside your body.  The reaction can be so fast and dramatic that it is life threatening, causing the throat to swell shut.  If you have this dramatic reaction to allergies, you are probably carrying your EpiPen or some other form of injection to stop this dangerous reaction.  For the less dangerous reactions, there’s an herb that will help you recover.

Burdock Root capsules are an excellent anti-histamine (and your reaction is producing histamine) and can quickly stop your reaction.  If you react so quickly you don’t have time to swallow capsules or it’s not possible to take a capsule, you may want to carry Burdock Root Extract with you.  A half dropper full held in the mouth is quickly absorbed sublingually and works in seconds.  I have an asthmatic-like reaction to exposure to chemicals so I carry the Burdock Root extract with me whenever I leave home; I have used it to save myself from a bad reaction.
