There has been a lot of information floating around the internet on the benefits of hemp seed oil. Up until recently it hasn’t been available in the U.S., but it is widely grown in Canada and other countries. It is primarily harvested for it’s high fiber and oil. Hemp Seed Oil is one of nature’s richest source of the Essential Fatty Acids (76%) and is a rich source of GLA (3%). Hemp Seed Oil offers a good balance of Omega 6 to Omega 3 fatty acids (3.75 to 1), suitable for life long consumption.
Last year I started adding hemp seed protein to my morning protein smoothie. It has a tasty nutty flavor that I really like and mixes well in juice or milk with brewer’s yeast, flax seed and other proteins powders. Hemp seed is a complete protein source and provides all 8 essential amino acids humans need for nutritional support. Hemp and soy are the only two plants that are equal to protein nutrition to animal protein, but without the cholesterol.
