Apple Pectin Recipe

apple coreWell, you say, why would I want to make apple pectin?  If you use apples a lot or have an apple tree or two, it’s full utilization of the fruit.  Besides, apple pectin helps prevent constipation, is a moist fiber, and even helps to eliminate heavy metal.

 

APPLE PECTIN

Apple pectin is made from the cores and peels of apples, any kind.  If you don’t want to process a lot of apples at one time, keep a container in your freezer and every time you use an apple, drop the peelings and core in the freezer container.  When you have about 2 cups, put in a saucepan with 4 cups water.  Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer about 40 minutes.  Let stand until cool then strain into a bottle.  Drink ½ to 1 cup pectin juice daily.
