tryptophanL-Tryptophan promotes sleep as anyone who’s had turkey at Thanksgiving can attest.  Turkey is high in Tryptophan and a nap after a big turkey dinner is hard to resist.  L-Tryptophan is essential for the production of Vitamin B3 and has antidepressant properties and thus reduces anxiety.  It can lower your sensitivity to  pain.  Food sources besides turkey include brown rice, cottage cheese, meat and peanuts to name a few.
