licoriceLicorice improves the  natural mucus lining of the stomach and intestinal wall.  As a digestive aid, it can stop stomach discomfort such as cramps (and damage).  Take it at the first sign of discomfort.  It usually works very quickly.  If you are a person with low blood pressure, regular licorice can help because it will raise your blood pressure and you will feel better.  And, yes, there really is a plant from which licorice candy is made and you can still get real licorice candy although it, too, is flavored with that licorice substitute (in flavor only) anise.   Licorice – DGL.  In this licorice, the glycyrrhizin compound , which can raise blood pressure, has been removed.  All of these products benefit your digestion.
