Peach Tree

| June 1, 2014

peach treeIf you have a peach tree in your back yard then you can enjoy the luscious fruit at its best – tree ripened.  The fruit you buy in the grocery store is picked green but never ripens fully after it’s pulled from the tree.  A fully ripe peach is high in Vitamin A and easy for all types to digest, even those with digestive problems.  There’s another bonus that comes with having your own tree; the peach leaves make an excellent tea that is good for the urinary tract, cleansing the kidneys and increasing urine output.  Peach leaf tea is mildly sedative and also has expectorant properties.  Even the peach stones (seeds) can be broken up and simmered in water to make a calcium rich broth; very tasty when combined with vegetables such as carrots and celery.
