Lavender

| July 3, 2014

lavenderLavender has been a favorite healing plant for centuries.  It is good for the digestive tract, promoting the production of bile needed to digest fats and limiting or expelling gas.  For many people, lavender has a calming, sedative action; for others, it acts like a tonic giving energy and alertness.  If it is calming for you, it can help you sleep.  Tuck a little cotton ball with lavender essential oil in your pillow for a good night’s rest.  Lavender water also makes a good spray for burns including sunburn as it seems to get the heat out of a burn very quickly.  This stops the “cooking” process and starts the healing process.  A blend of lavender and peppermint essential oils in a product called migrastick  is a wonderful remedy for headache, even migraine.  The small roll-on is dabbed on each temple for immediate relief.  Lavender is a small shrub 2′ to 3′ tall.  It is wonderful in the garden imparting the beauty of its flowers and its heavenly aroma.  Yes, I’m a fan of lavender.
