Liatris root is used as a tea; gargling with it is beneficial for a sore throat. Drinking it is a useful diuretic. It is even said that the tea is effective against gonorrhea. This perennial flower is easy to grow and winter hardy. Liatris offers airiness to your flower border with its tall spikes of flowers in very bright blue violet colors. Easy to grow from seeds, just lay the dried flower stalks (with seeds) in your garden bed and next spring, you’ll see young plants. You will think the young plants are blades of grass, but if you pull them, they will have a tiny bulb at the bottom. You also see Liatris in professional flower arrangements.
